bookmarks in tabs, now it is up to 13 in xlsclients
1 [00:01:37] <tinga> Note that when I restart a killed firefox
and it restores the tabs, it doesn't load the contents in the
tabs until the tab is opened, and xlsclients only shows the
connections once opened.

4 [00:02:57] <jmcnaught> tinga: same here for restarting
firefox, the tabs are not loaded until I go to them. But when I
opened the 246 bookmarks as tabs it definitely loaded them all
completely

painful part seems to be that the X protocol seems to be tied to it
somehow (not clear yet about the details). But people have been
complaining and providing hacks since at least 2006 (replaced-url
8 [00:06:46] <quadrathoch2> sounds to me an issue with debian9,

18 [00:14:34] <greycat> I can't think of any obvious reason
firefox compiled for buster would work better than the same firefox
compiled for stretch, unless the bug is actually in some library
19 [00:16:13] <quadrathoch2> greycat I was guessing more in the
sense of xorg
20 [00:16:20] <tinga> I find that interesting, too, but, would
it be noscript or uMatrix? Could be the point version, although that
seems interesting. Could be a Debian custom patch that was added for
a later release, though.
21 [00:16:43] <greycat> why on earth would you think
"firefox is using hundreds of connections" is a bug in
xorg

23 [00:17:26] <tinga> I don't see why it's necessarily
a bug in Firefox.
24 [00:17:57] <tinga> Opening a new connection could make sense,
from a "sandboxing" perspective--keep each renderer's
state separate.

26 [00:18:52] <tinga> I moved to rxvt with one process per
terminal for reliability. One crashes, it doesn't take anything
else down. Same reason could have been applied by Firefox.
27 [00:19:11] <tinga> And why not, except that X has a
limitation there, "640 KB should be enough for everyone".
28 [00:19:48] <tinga> Anyway, it could also be something like
WebGL: maybe you have that disabled, or it's lazy-loading for
you and not for me or something?
