69 [00:44:29] <Mrbuck> I think there is some problem with
download mirrors, I am not able tto download sudo
70 [00:44:54] <owen> Well it isnt included by default
71 [00:44:59] <owen> so you would need to download it

73 [00:45:06] <owen> i just insalled it
74 [00:45:32] <tds> you'll get sudo by default but only if
you don't enter a root passwd during the installer (assuming
you've installed with d-i off a cd that is)

patches. some do extra stuff like randomizing function locations in
teh binaries and such. some are faster than others at applying
patches. some have sigs on packages. debian seems to be one of the
better mainstream ones. and it is huge. and derivatives are built on
it. so less stuff gets overlooked.

1137 [12:18:40] <n-st> Deihmos: because the program needs
somewhere to send its output (stdout and stderr). when you close the
ssh connection, that output pipe goes away and the program receives
the SIGPIPE signal. the default behaviour in that case is to
terminate the program
1138 [12:19:27] <laice> Deihmos: Processes run by SSH are run
interactively, unless specified to run in the background. These run
as a process, being a child of the SSH process you're in.
Either run the process as a background job, or you could use
something like the screen application/tool to run the job detached
from your SSH session.
1139 [12:19:28] <n-st> you'll need somewhere else for the
output to go, or a program that ignores SIGPIPE. usual solution: run
it in a terminal multiplexer (like screen or tmux)

firmware-iwlwifi_20161130-4_all.deb from the site that jcmnaught
recommended. I think I need to put it under pool on my install usb.
Which directory does this go in?

install it from whereever, given the dependencies are fine. you
could throw all extra .deb's into a directory and dpkg install

wifi problem with debian stretch 9.8 with linux 4.9.0-9-amd64. The
wifi card is RTL8111/8168/8411 whenever I move the laptop it
disconnects completely and I have to put my laptop in suspend mode
and then run two commands: echo 1 >
/sys/devices/pci0000\:00/0000\:00\:1c.1/0000\:03\:00.0/remove

the directory tree somewhere and (not loop, the other thing) mount
it into its usual position.
