cron's output would be lost. Discarded. I would guess. With an
error message to the syslog.
222 [03:39:58] <themill> cron recommends mail-transport-agent for
a reason
223 [03:40:46] <themill> it can be something trivial like
nullmailer or dma etc, but it relies on something else to deliver
that mail
224 [03:41:18] <michael2> so if a cron job outputs something and
there is no sendmail available its just goes nowhere?

232 [03:49:02] <rwp> If one wants mail to be sent then one needs

233 [03:49:31] <rwp> Conversely there are people who do not want
mail sent and will intentionally avoid installing a mail transport
234 [03:49:41] <rwp> agent. Installing one by default prevents
them from doing that they want.
235 [03:49:43] <michael2> so what would send those messages into
/var/spool|mail then?
236 [03:49:57] <themill> an MTA that delivers to /var/mail/
237 [03:50:06] <rwp> The mail transport agent (MTA) such as
postfix delivers mail to /var/mail/$USER.

2286 [23:53:24] <Kalavera> I have installed a Proxmox server and
tried to connect the network but it doesnt. I have tested the same
cable on an ubuntu laptop and it works and the dhcp assign an IP
address but on the server it doesnt. The hardware, a single network
card with 4 ports, is recognized by the OS and assign the names eno1
. . . eno4
