are supposed to work if the chroot only contains, say, arm64

/debootstrap/deboostrap is a shell script so $target/bin/sh (arm64)

710 [11:19:18] <oiaohm> uebera||: qemu-$qemu_arch-static that bit
there means you would in theory be running in arm64 qemu emulated.
711 [11:19:35] <alexrelis> tyzef: If not, that's okay. As a
root user, run `dmesg`. Check around for any red text that says
"firmware: failed to load...". For example,
"firmware: failed to load brcm/bcm43xx-0.fw (-2)".
712 [11:19:35] <alexrelis> From this example,
"brcm/bcm43xx-0.fw" would be the missing firmware that you
would have to install. In your case it might be different of course.
How do we know the package to install that corresponds to the
missing firmware? Say we needed to install brcm/bcm43xx-0.fw. In
that case, we would run `apt search brcm/bcm43xx-0.fw`. Then, we
would apt install the package that it tells us. So `apt install
firmware-brcm80211` (as root).
713 [11:20:10] <uebera||> oiaohm: The problem is that
qemu-$qemu_arch-static is never called anywhere. So something must

1296 [20:17:08] <LameName123> Hello everybody! I've been
using Debian as my distro of choice for a while now and have
recently been playing with the idea of replacing it with OpenBSD in
places, where security is the main focus. But I'm not sure if
it really is more secure than Debian and how Debian holds up in
comparison. I had a rather hard time comparing the two. Does anybody
of you know more about this? I would love to know what you have to
say about this.
1297 [20:17:56] <Delta706> have you tried looking at the man page
for "init"?
1298 [20:19:03] <jmcnaught> soul-d: run levels were replaced by
targets in systemd. Read about the isolate command in "man
systemctl", but it will be "systemctl isolate
multi-user.target". "systemctl list-units -t target"
to see targets.
1299 [20:20:02] <sney> LameName123: the most important security
component is admin practices. the kernel, userland, etc can
sometimes make a difference depending on the use case, but if
security is your goal and you make an effort to be specific in your
approach, you can make linux just as secure as anything.

way you manage your system plays a huge role in how secure it is
going to end up but would you say that OpenBSD is more secure by
default than Debian? I'm not sure if it's actually true or
if it's just "marketing talk". They like to list all
their security features but I'm never sure if that's
something that's unique to them or if Debian has those as well.

1316 [20:28:53] <sney> you have the best chance of securing a
system that you're already familiar with. so if you know debian
pretty well but you've only used openbsd once or twice, the
smart choice is to stick with debian.

possible. Be it from the inside or outside. Closing all the ports
and removing all the services that I don't need are some of the
first things I do. OpenBSD claims to have a record of very few
vulnerabilities in their base install and to have a rather small
code base, which in turn is supposed to have less bugs. But from the
looks

popular than Debian, which means there are far less eyes on the

not as attractive as a target.

error message until I found out why :)

packages (following

1524 [23:01:30] <jolt> uebera||: I think it depends on how

same time, but I haven't played aroud with it, so I cant help
you out.
